December 1: Keynote by Prof. Schuster together with colleagues from TUHH and Helmholtz-Zentrum HEREON during the virtual Conference on AI in Engineering on the topic of “Machine Learning in Engineering and Materials Science: On Your Marks, Get Set, … Go!?”

October 15: Podcast of Prof. Schuster on the topic of “Machine Learning and EMC” as part of the the podcast series of the IEEE EMC Society. The podcast was recorded in collaboration with Susanne Vogel of the IEEE Board of Directors of the EMC Society.

September 24: Farewell party of Dipl.-Ing. Angela Freiberg as a technical employee of the Institute of Electromagnetic Theory and “mother” of the CONCEPT-II software tool for numerical field simulation.


September 23: Online talk given by Dr. Yang with the “EMC Professional Talk” Programm hosted by IEEE German EMC chapter on the topic of „Nonlinear Shielding: A New Paradigm in EMI Control“. PDF

September 01: Marco de Stefano, Ph. D. student of the the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, starts his guest stay at the Institute of Electromagnetic Theory supported by the DAAD (on the right in the picture). Mr. de Stefano will be an academic guest of TUHH till the end of the year 2021. During this time he will work closely with Mr. Torben Wendt (on the left in the picture).

July 15: Online talk given by Dr.-Ing. Robert Kebel, Airbus Finkenwerder, Hamburg, within the lecture on EMC. Invited talk on the topic of “ Conducted EMI of an Inverter Driven Electric Power Train”.

July 12: Dr. Yifan Qian from China starts his research fellowship at the Institute of Electromagnetic Theory supported by the by a joint CSC-DAAD Postdoc Scholarship Program. Dr. Qian will be an academic guest of TUHH till end of 2022.

July 01./02.: Two-day online conference “MLE-Days 2021” with a range of 25 online workshops, providing participants with a broad and in-depth insight into engineering and business application fields of machine learning. The “MLE-Days 2021” are organized by the research initiative “Machine Learning in Engineering (MLE@TUHH)“. PDF

June 21: Successful defense by M. Sc. Katharina Scharff of her Ph.D. thesis “Evaluation of Interconnects up to 100 GHz using Machine Learning“.

August 20: Sommer party at the Institute of Electromagnetic Theory. For the time being this was the last party of our Institute at the Harburger Schloßstrasse 20.

June 12: Online presentation by Prof. Schuster on the subject of “Artificial Neural Networks for EMC Engineering” by invitation of the Bangalore Chapter of the IEEE Electronics Packaging Society (EPS).

June 09: Online talk given by Prof. Liang Zhou, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, within the IEEE Distinguished Lecturer program of the IEEE EMC Society. Invited talk on the topic of “Heterogeneous 3-D Integration of a Millimeter-wave Transceiver module”. PDF

February 28: Key Note by Prof. Schuster at the IEEE Latin American Symposium on Circuits and Systems (LASCAS) in San Jose, Costa Rica, on the topic of „Artificial Neural Networks for EMC Engineering“. PDF

February 23: Prof. Schuster visits the group of Prof. Renato Rimolo-Donadio at the Institiuto Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC). At TEC Prof. Rimolo-Donadio is currently supervising research in the fields of signal integrity, power integrity, and microelectronis.

February 21: Farewell to Dr. Lei Wang, who finalize his two year research fellowship supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Dr. Lei Wang will work as Assistant Professor at the Institute of Sensor Signal and Systems, School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.
